Cinema: the "Roberto Sbaffi Association"

The Protestant Cinema Association "Roberto Sbaffi" organized, in occasion of the International Cinematographic Art Festival of Venice, two events. Together with Interfilm, the European Protestant cinema association, the local Lutheran Church and the Protestant Cultural Center "Palazzo Cavagnis" an evening dedicated to the Swedish director Ingmar Bergman was held. After the showing of the film "Wild Strawberries" a round table discussion was held with the title "Ingmar Bergman, the genius of the interpretation of modern unrest" with the participation of Hans Hodel, President of Interfilm, Charles Martig, of the Catholic cinema organization in German Switzerland and Methodist pastor Peter Ciaccio of the Association "Roberto Sbaffi".

The other event, held in collaboration of the Foundation of the Festival itself, was a round table discussion dedicated to Chinese cinema entitled "Live or survive, challenges of contemporary Chinese film making", with the participation of Peter Mallone of SIGNIS, the international Catholic Association for communication, Dario Viganò, President of the Festival Foundation and Karsten Visarious, General Secretary of Interfilm. Television director Gianna Urizio of the Association "Roberto Sbaffi", who presided over both round table discussions, said: "With this initiative we want to promote a cinema that is both a kind of platform for a dialogue that is not only ecumenical, but also between cultures and religions that explore the relationships, always more complex, between cinema, culture and society."
